One of the most common questions we get: "How long will my stuff be in transit?" The honest answer depends on distance, volume, time of year, and your specific origin and destination. Here is our official delivery ETA schedule — the same one we share with every customer at booking.

- Weekends and holidays are counted in the calculation of the delivery spread. If the guide dates expire on a weekend or a holiday, the spread should be extended to the next business day.
- All delivery dates are calculated by business days and estimated by volume, mileage and time of year.
- ID, ME, MT, ND, OR, SD, TX, VT, WA, WY Shipments — Northbound or Southbound:
- Add 5 days if origin/destination is within 100 miles of the US Border (e.g. Blaine WA, Brownsville TX, El Paso TX, Burlington VT)
- Add 5 days if origin/destination is more than 100 miles from nearest metropolitan area
- Add 6 days if origin/destination requires a ferry for travel
- Add 6 days if origin/destination is within the Great Basin Desert, Mojave Desert, Chihuahuan Desert or West Texas
- Add 6 days for shipments over 1,100 cu ft if origin/destination is near US Borders
- Add 9 days for shipments under 1,100 cu ft if origin/destination is near US Borders
- FL Shipments — Northbound or Southbound:
- Add 7 days if origin/destination is Key West

What Actually Affects Transit Time?
- Volume: Larger shipments take longer to load, unload, and route. A 1-bedroom move typically moves faster through the schedule than a 4-bedroom.
- Time of year: Summer (June–August) is peak season. More trucks on more routes means more schedule competition. Fall and winter moves generally land at the lower end of the window.
- Origin and destination specifics: Remote areas, ferry crossings, desert routes, and US border proximity all add days as noted in the schedule above.
- Direct haul vs. relay: AEY Moving uses direct haul — your belongings travel on one dedicated truck with no warehouse stops or transfers to other carriers. Relay carriers (brokers who transfer loads) add significant unpredictability to transit time.
- Building access at delivery: High-rises with limited elevator windows, gated communities, or HOA restrictions on move-in times can affect the delivery day even when the truck arrives on schedule.
Planning your move-in date
Don't schedule lease start dates, utility activations, or job start dates for fewer than 3 business days after your pickup date — regardless of your quoted window. Build in buffer. Your driver will keep you updated, but real-world conditions (weather, traffic, mandatory rest stops) affect every timeline.
How to Read the Schedule for Your Move
Let's say you're moving from Chicago, IL to Orlando, FL — approximately 1,200 miles. That puts you in the 1,001–1,500 mile band: 2–12 business days. Florida doesn't have any border or remote-area add-ons, so your delivery window is 2–12 business days from pickup.
For a Seattle, WA to Miami, FL move — approximately 3,300 miles — you're in the 2,001–3,300 mile band: 7–21 business days. Washington state applies the remote-area rules if you're outside the Seattle metro, so check the add-on list above.
Important
This schedule covers estimated transit time once your belongings are picked up. Total time from "I want to move" to "I'm in my new home" also includes your booking lead time (ideally 4–8 weeks out) and any time needed to prepare for pickup.
Stay in Contact with Your Driver
The single most important thing you can do during your move: keep your phone accessible and respond promptly to driver updates. Your driver will call 24–48 hours before delivery to coordinate the exact delivery window. Missing that call delays your delivery.
