How far in advance should I book a long distance mover?
For summer moves (June–August), book 6–8 weeks in advance — popular dates fill up fast. For fall, winter, and spring moves, 3–4 weeks is typically sufficient. The earlier you book, the more flexibility you have on pickup dates. Last-minute moves are possible but may have limited availability and carry a premium.
How long does a long distance move take from pickup to delivery?
Delivery time depends on distance. Moves under 500 miles typically deliver in 1–3 days. Moves of 1,000–1,500 miles typically take 3–5 days. Cross-country moves of 2,500+ miles take 5–8 days. You'll receive a delivery window when your move is booked — our dispatch team calls 24–48 hours before arrival with a more precise time frame.
What is FADD and how does it work?
FADD stands for First Available Delivery Date — the earliest date you're ready to receive your belongings at your destination. It is not your guaranteed delivery date. It tells us "don't arrive before this date." If you're ready for delivery right after pickup, write ASAP or the next day. Your load is placed on the manifest for the next truck heading your direction on or after your FADD. Read the full explanation in our guide:
What to Expect on Moving Pickup Day.
Can I change my pickup date after booking?
Date changes are possible with sufficient notice, subject to availability. Contact us as soon as you know your plans have changed. Changes made close to your scheduled pickup date may have limitations. This is also why we always advise against booking flights or appointments that can't be changed during your pickup window.
What if I'm not ready to receive delivery on my FADD?
If your destination isn't ready by your FADD, we can arrange storage in transit. Your belongings stay in the truck or a secure facility until you're ready. Storage fees apply after the initial period covered in your contract. Contact us as soon as you know there may be a delay so we can make arrangements.
