When you book a long-distance move, you have a choice: move your belongings only (you pack, we move), or add full packing service (we pack everything). Here's what each option actually costs and when each makes sense.
Moving Only vs Full Service: The Price Difference
Packing service is priced by cubic footage. For moves under 600 cu ft, the rate is $1.50/cu ft. For moves at or above 600 cu ft, the rate is $1.00/cu ft.
| Home Size | Volume | Move Only | Packing Add-On | Full Service |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Bedroom | 400 cf | $1,746 | $600 | $2,346 |
| 2 Bedroom | 650 cf | $2,767 | $650 | $3,417 |
| 3 Bedroom | 950 cf | $3,887 | $950 | $4,837 |
| 4-5 Bedroom | 1,400 cf | $5,342 | $1,400 | $6,742 |
Based on ~1,000 mile move, non-peak. Packing includes all materials.
What Full Packing Service Includes
- Our crew packs every room — kitchen, bedrooms, living areas, garage
- All boxes (small, medium, large, wardrobe boxes)
- All packing materials — tape, bubble wrap, packing paper, mattress bags, dish packs
- Furniture disassembly where needed
When Full Service Is Worth It
For a long-distance move, professional packing significantly reduces breakage risk. Your crew knows how to pack for a 1,500-mile haul in a way that a DIY pack often doesn't. If you have fragile items, a full kitchen, or simply not enough time before your move date, full service is usually worth the cost.
The math also works out better than most people expect: the cost of boxes, tape, bubble wrap, and packing paper from a store typically runs $150–400 for a 2-bedroom. When you factor in your time, professional packing often costs less than the DIY alternative.
